CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

THREE CLEAR DAYS LATE NIGHT ON SATURDAY Due to the fact that Christmas Day falls on Monday this year, shopkeepers m Gisborne will have three clear days’ holiday, counting Sunday as one of me days, and this will apply also to the New Year period, when Monday and Tuesday will again be observed as holidays. Christmas Eve actually falls on Sunday, and will be observed, therefore, on the Saturday, so that there will be no alteration in the late shopping night for the week, apart from the extended hours for Christmas trading. Similarly, New Year’s Eve will be observed by the shopkeepers on Saturday, December 20, when the shops will again remain open until 10 o’clock.

The usual Thursday half-holiday will be taken in the weeks preceding Christmas and New Year.
