Income tax notices in England have hitherto been posted two or three days before Christmas, the tax being due on the first day of the New Year. The notices are now being issued earlier so that taxpayers may have warning before they spend all their money on Christmas presents. Another innovation is that on the back of the .form is printed a list of figures showing the estimated national expenditure for the current year.
