U.S. FARMERS’ PLIGHT

UNPROFITABLE PRICES NOVEL STATE EMBARGO (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Dec. 7,2 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. (5. A message from Bismarck, North Dakota, states that the Governor, Mr Danger, to-day declared an embargo on out-State shipments of beef cattle “intended to be processed into human food,” simultaneously lifting the wheat embargo for 10 days. The Governor said that to permit the further sale of beef cattle “will constitute a drain upon the natural resources of tho State, resulting in the confiscation of 'human food when thousands of citizens are asking the Government and the political subdivisions of the State for the necessities of life which they cannot purchase at any price.”

Low prices, which failed to pay tin cost of transportation alone, are blamed for the action.

The Governor decided temporarily to lil'l the wheat, bail to enalble farmers to market grains and buy necessities.
