BRIGHTER PROSPECTS
Another sign of the promise of: a (brighter Christmas is the ample evidence already provided that more people will be holiday-making. The Auckland hotels are now receiving heavy bookings and, although lhe holiday season is still three weeks away, several hotel:; have very little .accommodation availahie. During the week before Christmas J)ay four large vessels will arrive at Auckland from overseas. On December 51) the .Mariposa and the Mamma are due from Sydney, and it: is expected they will bring* a large number of A usrr.nl in a visitors. On the following day the Kangitata will arrive with JSO passengers from England, and among those are many toiirisls ol tin* t\ji\' that will add considerably to the revenue of the holiday resorts, particularly the fishing centres. On Christmas Day the Aoratigi will reach Auckland from Vancouver,, and it, too, should bring its quota of tourists. Another indication of the holiday prospects comes from the inquiries for information concerning motor touring. Extended tours of the North Island will ).,e undertaken by many parties and the Urewera. drive to Wailcaremoaiia, now with much ot the inconvenience removed, will prove uttraeI i VI 1 .
