COMPLETE PROHIBITION STATEMENT BY MINISTER (Per Press Association.) l WELLINGTON, this day. FroJPso-day no gold is to be taken from New Zealand except under specific permit from the Minister of I'inauce. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates said to-day that section 6 of the Banking Amendment Act, 1914, prohibited the export of gold without the prior consent m writing of the Minister of 1 inance. 1’ or a considerable time passengers and others had been permitted individually to export gold coin up to £5 without a permit, fn view of the fact that all gold coin is now to be taken over by the Rescue Bank, it had been decided to withdraw this permission, and from to-day the export of gold coin from New Zealand is prohibited* except in any case where a specific permit from the Minister ot Finance has been issued. The Customs Department has been directed to see that no gold coin is taken out by passengers and others in contravention of this arrangement, and any attempt to the contrary will, if discovered, mean the forfeiture of the coin to His Majesty the King.
