“BE PREPARED”
DEFENCE OF PACIFIC MILITARY MAN'S ADVICE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. ■Speaking at a New Zealand Club luncheon, General Sir William Marshall said that during the past 15 years everybody hau been talking of peace. Nobody, especially those who had seen war. Wanted war. The reasons for war were chiefly economic, or the desire for expansion, and, in the case of crowded countries, that desire was natural.
Alltfding to the Pacific, General Marshall said he thought it was a duty to he prepared for all eventualities. He thought that a very dangerous experiment was being carried out in India, for the mass of people there were unfitted at present for democratic government. New Zealand, which possessed such valuable assets, should be prepared for all .eventualities.
