Mr R. A. Laidlaw, Auckland, who recently underwent an operation, is making a satisfactory recovery. Lord and Lady Bledisloe leave Wellington to-night for Christchurch, where they will undertake a series of public engagements. Their Excellencies return to Wellington at the end of next week. Professor P. W. Burbidge, Auckland, has returned to London, after .having spent, some time on the Continent. He hopes to devote the next few months to visiting universities in all parts of the Mother Country prior to leaving for New Zealand at the end of the year. A feature of the Wellington Symphony Orchestra’s concert, to be relayed tonight by 2YA from the Wellington Town Hall, will be the appearance of Mr, Andersen Tyrer, the examiner in the North Island Trinity College of Music, who was recently a visitor to Gisborne, Ho is to be the pianoforte soloist in “Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra in A” (Liszt), and “Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra in F Minor” (Arensky). Mr. Tyrer, a world-famous pianist, who hasphiyei) with the London Symphony Orchestra, has been referred to by Mr. Finest Newman in tho London Sunday Times as “the high priest of polish.”
