TRIBUTE TO CRAWFORD FREMANTLE, October 31. Among the passengers by the Orford, which arrived froin London-to-day. was G. P. Hughes, captain of the British tennis team. In the course of an interview, he said that he regarded Crawford as the finest - singles player in the world. He has no weakness, but has more than his share of bad days. He thinks Quist and Turnbull, with a little more experience, would be a really tough proposition for any pair in the world. Mr. Hughes condemns shorts for tennis, and considers them inelegant. He is looking forward to the reunion with the other British tennis players now. in New Zealand.
