IMPERIAL AIR MAILS (Received Nov. 1,2 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 31. The striking progress of Empire air lines is shown by the fact that for the six months ended September 30, passengers, mails and freight on the Egyptian, Burmese, and African routes recorded an all-round increase of 45 per cent compared with 1932. More than 40,000 letters are now being sent by air mail to India weekly, with an additional 14,000 letters weekly between Karachi and Calcutta. During the quarter ended September 30, 55,1001 b. of letter air mails were carried from Britain, compared with 39,8401 b. in the corresponding quarter of 1932. Those to India alone totalled 14,0521 b., compared with 97081 b. last yea r.
