RARE N.Z. SHRUB
COMMON IN GLASGOW , (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The easiest way to secure one raTe New Zealand shrub is to write to Glasgow, according to Mr T. L. Lancaster, a university botanist. The shrub is known as olearia haastii, and seems to grow only on a few peaks in the Southern Alps, but in Glasgow it is very common. , Mr Lancaster said he had never seen it till he visited Scotland. He saw a hedge of it pi Loch Lomond. It is thought probable that early explorers sent seed to the botanic gardens at Kew, London, where it was propagated and distributed.
