LORY RANFURLY DEAD
FORMER N.Z. GOVERNOR LONDON, October t. The death is announced of the fifth of Ranfurly. t Lord Ranfurly, a former Governor Of £Jew Zealand, G.C.M.G., K.C.M.G., i».C., was 77 years of age, and was the youngest son of the third earl. He Was educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge, and was married in 1880 to the Honorable Constance Elizabeth Caulfield. Lord Ranfurly was Lord-in-Waiting to the Queen .from 1895 to 1897, and in 1897 was appolnted Govemor and Commander-In-Chief of New Zealand, which office he held until 1904. Lord Ranfurly’s memory Is perpetuated in New Zealand by the Ranfurly Shield, the most coveted trophy in Rugby football of the Dominion.
