MUTUAL TRADE
AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND DETAILS OP TREATY" The nature of the trade agreement between Australia, and New Zealand will be revealed simultaneously in the Parliaments of the two countries on October 11. A statement to this effect was nude by the Minister of Customs, the Rt. lion. J. G. Coates. A provisional agreement was made as a result of a visit to New Zealand by Senator W. Massy Greene, AssistantTreasurer for the Commonwealth of Australia, in April. Mr. Greene conferred with Mr. Coates and with the Hon. R. Masters, Minister of Industries and Commerce. It was subsequently stated that the agreement would have the effect of removing many misunderstandings and of improving the trade between the two countries. Both Governments have approved the agreement, but it- cannot be brought into effect until it- is ratified by both Parliaments. It is necessary that the announcement of the details of the agreement should be made simultaneously in tho two countries, and the six months’ delay in ratification has been caused by the fact that both Parliaments have not in the interim been in session at tho same time.
