REFUGEES FROM GERMANY
EXAMINATION OF POSITION SUGGESTION TO LEAGUE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Sept. 30, 1.30 pan.) GENEVA, Sept. 20. Ju the League Assembly the Dutch Foreign Minister, llerr de Graefl', submitted a. resolution that the League should devote a special sum to enable a thorough examination to be made into the economic, financial, and juridical position of refugees from Germany, the influx of whom was likely to disturb the economic life of the conn trios in which they sought refuge. The Australian Press Association says that there is small likelihood of a lively controversial debate in the Assembly on Herr Do 'Graeff.’s resolution, tlio general belief being that the matter will be referred to one of the large commissions, but a snag is likely when the budget committee is asked to find money for the establishment of an organisation to deal with the subject of the actual cost of settling distressed refugees. It is felt that the publicity which the project necessarily would throw upon the causes of the exodus, which ihe Germans insist must be viewed purely as an internal affair, is bound to lead to undesirable friction calculated to prejudice the ticklish disarmament negotiations which are still continuing, especially in relation to Germany’s claim to be allowed certain defensive armaments.
