DAIRY STOCK SALES DEMAND NOT GREAT The demand for dairy stock in the Gisborne district recently lias not been great; in . fact, prices realised in private and public sales have been disappointing to vendors. One strange point is that the recent flutter of excitement in the butter market lias not helped to any extent in raising the values of milking stock.
Messrs. Common, Shelton and Company report holding a sale of about 30 Jersey heifers on account of Mr. It. It. Biggar on Thursday. They were mostly in milk, and the prices ranged from £3 to £4 10s. The same firm sold 20 young Jersey and Jersey cross cows on account of Mr. Abbotsford Smith, Ormond, last week, at an average of about £5.
