Further particulars respecting the drowning accident at Onepu, about 16 miles from Whakatane, on Sunday, disclose that Ernest Lane, the 16-montli-old son of Mr. C. E. Lane, was playing with some other children when he wandered away and fell into a creek leading'from the power station. The child was not missed until some minutes after he had disappeared. When a search was mado he was found dead in tho creek 100yds from his home. An inquest was held before Mr. G. Brabant, district coroner, a verdict being returned of death by accidental drowning.
