REVISED GOLF RULES

FINALLY APPROVED NO DRASTIC CHANGES LONDON, Sept. 27. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club unanimously approved the revised golt rules which are to operate on January 1. They were drafted after consultation with the United States and the Dominions.

There are no drastic changes, the alterations being chiefly aimed at making the wording of the present rules clearer, notably the flagstick rule for match play, in which now either party is entitled to remove the Hag. A more generous lifting of a loose impediment is allowed, and certain rules have been regrouped, while another important ml justment enables special rules for match play to he absorbed in the general rules. The championship committee, ot which Mr. Boase is chairman, reported that the committee was unable to reach a decision regarding the amateur status, which is still under consideration.
