AEROPLANE CRASHES
TWO OCCUPANTS KILLED (Received Sept. 27, noon.) CAPETOWN, Sept. 25, Sir Michael Oppenheimer and Major Cochrane Patrick were killed in an aeroplane crash a't Johannesburg aerodrome. The machine had just taken off and made a steep vertical turn, which proved too sharp, The plane hit the ground with the engines full out. Major Patrick was a pioneer of aerial survey in Africa. Sir Michael Oppenheimer, a barrister of the Inner Temple, succeeded to the baronetcy in 1921. He served in the European War and was a captain in the Indian Army Reserve. He was married in 1920 to a, daughter of Sir Robert Harvey.
