COPPER MINE AFIRE
SMGKE ENVELOPS TOWN ARSON SUSPECTED - (Received Sept. 27, noon.) •SYDNEY, Sept. 27. The Great Cobar copper mine at Cobar, which lvas been idle for some years, is oil fire. It is believed that somebody set fire to the ore bins. Tho poppet head also was set alight and it was burned to the ground and the flames descended the shaft. Dense clouds of choking fumes arc being given off, and tire smoke has enveloped the town. Nothing can lie done to extinguish the fire, which probably will burn to the water level iu the mine.
