TREATMENT OF NATIVES LONDON, Sept. 14. The Arnhem Land, incident is not merely of local importance, says the Times, in. a leading article. It raises the question of the proper treatment of the remainder of the Australian aborigines. The preservation of their accustomed and unfettered tribal life must be parmnnunt. The results in New Guinea have been obtained by a model sympathetic Administration, but similar methods have yet to be applied to the Australian aborigines. The opportunity may come when, a policy of. settling the' North is eventually decided.
