MR. AND MRS. McMILLAN FAREWELLED A very jolly social and dance was held in the Kaitaratahi Hall last week to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Neil McMillan, sen., and family, who are leaving the district after 22 years, to take up their residence at Otoko. The dance music was provided by Mr. Harry Lenanne, piano, and -Mr. A. Mitchell, violin. Aliss Mavis Croswell played a most enjoyable extra*during the supper interval. Mr. L. Croswell capably carried out the duties of M. C. Card tables were arranged at one end of the hall for those not interested in the dancing. Two Monte Carlo waltzes caused much amusement, the children's being won by Nolcen Bignell and Robert Symonds and the adults by Airs. J. Charles and Air. F. Pilcher. Air. T. Stone made a presentation to the guests of the evening in a few well chosen words. Miss Eileen Mulloolv presented two beautiful presents to the Alisses Alona and Greta McMillan, on behalf of their friends. “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” was then sung by all present. Little Aliss June Johnson presented Airs. McMillan with a lovely bouquet, tied with matching pink streamers. Messrs. T. Hay and R. Scott expressed their regret at Mr. McMillan’s departure, and spoke ol the valuable work he had done during his many years in the 'district. Mr. AlcMillan thanked his many friends for their kindness, and also expressed regret at leaving the district. A dainty home-made supper provided by the ladies of the district was served. Some pleasing items were rendered, as follows:—Recitation, Miss Rita Dorf; vocal solos, Mrs. W. Gomm, Master Douglas Johnson and Aliss FA Icon Mullooiy. Dancing was enjoyed until a late hour, when the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem brought the happy evening to a close. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. P.
