TOKOMARU BAY NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) Some of the deciding matches ot the golf championships were played on the Tokomaru Bay golf Jinks last week-end and proved very interesting. In the B grade men’s championship a. B. Forrester defeated L. Lunken by a and 2, after a very close game over 36 holes. At the eighteenth the players were all square, after an even round; Lunkon’s score was 86 and Forrester’s 90. Lunken gained the lead at the beginning of the second round and after five holes, gave way to Forrester, who continued to play well to win by 4 and 2. In the ladies’ B grade championship, Miss Molly Gibson gained a victory over Mrs. Riddell by 5 up and 4, over 18 holes. Airs. Riddell, who is a comparatively new player, made a good start and played steadily throughout, but her opponent gained by experience and came to the fore. Playing in the A grade championship, Alias D. Conolo defeated Miss Jackson by 4 and 2, in the semifinals. The finals will bo played ovei 36 holes on Wednesday between Mrs. N. Oates and Miss D. Conole.
The men’s championship final match will take place next week-end between P. Te Wai and P. Fairlie. Misses I). Emmerson and C. Baty, Gisborne, were visiting Misses Gibson and Trafford during the week-end.—Miss Pat Brosnuhan, Patutahi, is spending a holiday with the Misses Conole.—Mrs. G. Oates and her small son, -lack, left Tokomaru Bay (his week for Auckland. —Miss Ena Lee, who has been spending a month with her parents at Waipiro Bay, has left for Hamilton.—Mr. L. IT. Perkins has returned from annual leave, spent mainly in the Auckland district. Mr. Perkins lias been relieved by Mr. S. Edmonds.
