ADDINGTON SALES FAT CATTLE DEARER STORE SHEEP IN DEMAND (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Steady soaking rain, of which the country has been urgently in need, invested 'the market with a brighter tone to-day. The entries were smaller in all sections except fat sheep, a heavy proportion of which came from South Canterbury, Otago, and Southland, and a consignment of about 300 from the North Island. Store sheep.—The .smallest entry for some months came forward, ami a keen sale at late rates took place, ewes and lambs being in strong demand. Good ewes and lambs (all counted), made to 11s; medium 12tooth threequarlerbred to 1 (is Id; aged and .failing mouth us 3d to Ss 2d; medium ewe hoggets His (id to 17s 9d; ordinary 14s -Id to 14s ltd; medium wether hoggets to lost Id; medium crossbred hoggets 14s lOd to Ins 7d.

Fat sheep.—A big proportion of the entry was railed from a distance, and the quality was outstanding. The heavier entry caused an easing in values of from Is (id to 2s a head in heavy wethers, and to Is tid for ewes, medium weights showing little change. Ex-tra prime heavy wethers made to 35s lOd; prime heavy 27s to 29s (id; medium weight prime 24s to 26s Od; ordinary 20s Od to 23s Od; light 17s to 19s; extra prime heavy ewes to 29s 4cl’; prime heavy 25s to 27s Od; medium weight prime 22s Od to 24s Od; ordinary 19. s 6d to 225; light 15s to 18s 6d.

Fat cattle. —The entry comprised 325 head, a few less than last week. About 80 head, mostly cows and heifers, came from Poverty Bay, and drafts from Otago and: the West Coast. Though the sale was irregular values were better all round by 15. s a head. Best beef made front 27s to 29s per lOOlbs, special to 30s; good 24s to 20s 0d; heavy weight 21s to 24s Id; rough to ordinary 15s to 20s. Extra prime heavy steers sold to £l3 ]2s 6d; prime heavy £9 15s to £ll 15s; primo medium weight £8 15s to £lO ss; ordinary quality £0 8s to £8 10s; light, to £0 10s; extra prime heifers to £ll 17s 6d; prime £7 5s to £9; medium £5 5s to £7; light to £5; extra prime cows to £ll 7s 0d; prime £6 to £8; ordinary £4 10s to £5 15s; light and aged to £4 ss. Fat pigs.—There was a small entry and a keen demand for porkers. Choppers made 30s to £3 11s; baconers 37s 6d to £3 3s 0d; average price per lb. 4d to 4kl; porkers 25s tojs7s Od; average price per lb. 4:{& to 5-id.

GISBORNE PRICES Gisborne entries of cows and heifers included 40 sold on account of Mr. W. 11. Williams, Waimoko station. The Gisbornq Slieepfarmers' Frozen Meat and Mercantile Company reports that .17 averaged £7 12s 6d and 23 averaged £7 5s 4d.
