STORE SHEEP DEMAND •r ■ • r - • t -- SOME 5-YEAR EWES SOLD Business has been quiet in the Gisborne district recently in forward sales of store sheep to outside districts, but lately a few lots of 5-year breeding ewes hay© changed hands to local purchasers, with the possibility of a few of these lots going outside. Prices of from 13s to 12s 6d nave been paid for these ages. )- Sine© the first few deals of star lots of 2-year, ewes at 18s and 17s for the Waikato,, little business has been done. The dividend, which is free of income tax, will require £3750 and will b« paid on September 29. The Bell, Kilgour Goldinmiiig Company, Limited (Cromwell), reports that good progress is being made with yetimbenng, straightening < and regrading the main drive. Extraction -of the wash will be delayed for a few weeks. The treatment - plant will be ready for use in about two weeks. NORTH OTAGO FARMERS The thirty-second annual report of the North Otago Farmers’ Co-operative .Association shows a loss of £1794 alter provision ..for bad and doubtful debts and depreciation. The report states that the general fall in the price level of primary products had seriously affect, ed business, and the untavorable result of the last year’s operations could be attributed in a large measure to the ?;reatly reduced turnover in wool and ivestock, and the failure on the part of farmers to meet their interest and Other obligations.
