THE PRICE OF GOLD

A SHARP REDUCTION (British Official Wireless.) Received 10 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 11. A sharp fall of Is BJd. occurred in the price of gold on Saturday at, £6 0s 2id per fine ounce, a premium of 4d over the French franc, and there was a further drop to £6 8s 9JJ to-day.

A feature of last week’s bullion market, was the offering of the unusually large amount of £825,000 bar gold. This was all sold, a large proportion being bought on Continental account. Large amounts of gold are being offered in the bullion market, which is [tartly explained by the resale at a profit of previous purchases of the metal.
