HIGH COMMISSIONER?

MR. BRUCE” FUTURE ACTION POSTPONED (Received September 12, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 12. The Daily Express says Mr. S. M. Bruce’s acceptance of the Australian -High Commissionership has only been postponed for three weeks to allow his resignation from the Cabinet to reach Australia by air mail. It is known that five or six leading Commonwealth politicians, seeing no hope ,of advancement to the Cabinet, have been eager to secure the High Commissionership. Mr. Bruce’s acceptance indicates that he has turned his •back on domestic politics. Probably his chance of attaining high office in Australia has become remote. During liis Resident Ministership, he has conducted financial negotiations ot the greatest importance to his Ministerial colleagues’ satisfaction.
