PROPOSED VISIT TO N.Z. N.Z. COUNCIL DISCUSION (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The disadvantage or otherwise of professionals in tennis was discussed at last night’s meeting of the New Zealand council of the Lawn Tennis Association. The quarterly report concerning the proposed visit oh the professionals, Karel Kozeluh and Hans Nusslein, prompted comment, Mr. G. N. Goldie saying that any money available tor visits should be spent on amateurs. The principle of playing for money should be condemned. . • Mr. H. M. Boddington' (Wairarapa) considered a register of professionals in New Zealand necessary. Mr. C. G. White defended professionals for their’ service in improving the games. If they were unable to earn a living teaching, they should be allowed to play exhibition matches he said. Mr. H. N. Eatson (Manawatu) said the amateurs in every country were better than professionals, “if we are to have visiting players, let us stick to amateurs,” he added.

Mr. F. G. Jolly (Auckland) considered professionals would improve the standard of play, but they could be done without. “This amateur body should encourage amateurs,” he said.
