TELEGRAM FORM MISUSED

It is not generally known that it is an offence to use a post office telegram form for any purpose other than that for which it is provided, tho maximum penalty for an offence in this respect bein r £SO. At the Nelson Magistrate’s Court before Mr. T. E. Maunsell, S.M., Alfred Sydney Kerr was charged with using a telegram form for purposes other than that for which it was provided. Detective F. Sinclair stated that the law in regard to. the forms was not generally understood. Accused in this case had used the form to write out an order on his wages. The object in bringing the charge was more to bring the offence before the public than for a penalty. ‘I think it is an offence that is very frequently committed,” remarked the magistrate. , Accused was convicted and discharged.
