UNUSUAL SITUATION
ASSESSOR .RESIGNS' (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. An unusual situation arose in the Conciliation Council proceedings this morning When Mr. J. Roberts, assessor for the Christchurch Saddle, Harness and Collar Makers’ Union, declined to enter into an agreement on a basis of a rate of wages of Is 9d an hour for journeymen.
Mr. Roberts resigned his post as an assessor, and a new assessor was hurriedly sent for, following which a full agreement was reached. The other union assessors agreed to accept the employers’ 6ffer of Is 9d. which Mr. Roberts had declared ridiculous.
