breach of probation SEQUEL TO SHOOTING (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Arthur Henry Way, 53, a salesman, was charged to-day With failing to comply With the terms of his release after being convicted and ordered to come up for sentence jf called upon, and with toeing found unlawfully on enclosed premises at 98 Haekthorne road, Christchurch. The accused pleaded not guilty, but after evidence on tooth sides had been heard the magistrate said the accused’s failure to comply with the terms of his release was abundantly proved, and he sentenced Way to “three months on one charge, and a month on the other, the 80010000,3 to toe cumulative. Detective-Sergeant Rcvell outlined the events which led to Mrs Long injuring tho accused with a revolver at Christchurch on March 25. The accused, following his being found unlawfully on Mrs Long’s premises, was later convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on, conditions being that he should not go near Mrs Long, or molest her in any ,way. (Sergeant Rcvell explained that the accused had returned to worrying and pestering Mrs Long for money, with tho result that she left Christchurch and took a flat in Wellington. The accused followed and continued pestering her. In evidence, Mrs Long said she never invited the accused to her pla’ce. Altogether lie had Obtained about £290 from her. 1 "
The magistrate said: “The trouble between these people has already resulted in a shooting affray, and if the man persists in annoying, wo may have a repetition of it.’’
