MEETING OF SOCIETY ELECTION OF OFFICERS ) - At the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Homing Pigeon Society, held last ■night, there was a large attendance ot 'enthusiasts throughout this district. Mr. £. Stephenson was in the chair, f The past year had been a very successful- one, said Mr. J. 1* ; Forster, hon. secretary, when commenting on tno report. Although the club had had a number of setbacks, it was now in a good position regarding both finance and membership. During the season, Mr L. Jackson won the Forster \oarling Cup. while Mr. J. Forster had succeeded in annexing the Young lin’d Cup. with a velocity of 976,65 yards per minute; a record. Individual points secured last season wore as follow: Messrs F. Dunstan 28, W. Dunstan 19, L. Jackson 18, J, Forster 17, G. Cudd 12, F. Wildish 11, O. Allen, J. McLean 4, R. Shepherd 4, E. Stephenson 3, F. Jackson 2. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Reference to the work by Mr. Stephenson for the welfare of the society was made by Mr. Forster, who moved that appreciation of his past services be shown in his election to life-member-ship. This was seconded by Mr. Hooper, who endorsed the previous speaker s remarks, and the motion was carried with acclamation. Mr. Forster reported on the conference of federated clubs held at Wanganui a week ago, and at which lie represented the society, saying that good progress had 'been made with the work of attending to the welfare of clubs throughout the Dominion.

Stoneham, R. G. Crawford, J. Patterson (Wanganui), F. Goodman, E. 0. Warren, J. Alexander, A. 9. Parker, C. L. Fogden, A. Guthrie, and W. B. McKenzie; chairman, Mr. E. Stephenson; secretary, Mr. J. F. Forster; treasurer, Mr. M. Sharp; assistant secretary, Mr. C. Allen; committee, Messrs. L. Jackson, E. Jackson, W. Dunstan, T. Webber, W. Marshall, G. Hall, F. Dunstan, and J. Glover; lion, auditor, Mr. C. It. Fogden; hamper committee, Messrs G. Cuddy J., Glover and S, Bishop; clock committee, Messrs. R. Hooper and C. Alleu. In connection with the purchase ot a new carrying-box, it was explained that the present one was not nearly large enough. At the beginning of each season, "when short races were held, there was always a large entry. As the coining season would be opening shortly, and it was considered that larger carrying, accommoclatin was imperative, it was resolved to obtain prices for the construction of a larger box. These would be considered at the first meeting of the executive committee. The first meeting of the executive will bo held on Friday night, when the date of the initial race of the season will be decided. At the same meeting a programme for the season will be drawn up-
