THE WEATHER Toi-day’s North Island Report Blue skies were reported this morning at Napier, East Cape, and Tauranga, but overcast conditions prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light to moderate north-westerly breezes were general. The barometer showed little movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were:—Auckland and Gisborne 54 degrees, Tauranga 51, Opotiki and East Capo 52, Napier 55, ami Wellington 53. Rough seas were reported at Gape Campbell : elsewhere moderate or smooth.

Last Night’s Forecast Pressure is still high across central Australia and the northern Tasman Sea, whilo to the south a series of westerly depressions is moving rapidly eastwards. Winds: South-westerly at first in the far north and south, otherwise moderate to strong westerly to north-westerly prevailing, reaching galo force at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas: Rough on the western coasts and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea : Strong west winds and rough seas. Weather: Mild and changeable generally, mainly fair in the eastern districts, hut unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect, with intermittent rain. Midday Forecast General inference.—Pressure is high to the north of Now Zealand, while to the southwards a series of shallow westerly depressions continues to pass. Forecast. —Moderate to strong west to north-west.winds. Weather mainly fair to cloudy aud mild, but some showers in the hills, especially on the western slopes. Seas, moderate.
