BOWLS

UNIQUE TUSSLE

The draw in the final of the Burton Cup tournament yesterday afternoon provided one of the most exciting cup finals played in Gisborne. On the Ponsonby green last week, however, there was even more excitement hi the handicap pairs competition. Graham and Maxwell Walker, jmi., met Piper and Reg. Somervell in •the sixth round, and after a keen struggle won by one point. In the final these two teams met again, and at the end of 21 heads had registered a tie. This necessitated a replay of the game, but at the end bf 21 further heads they were again a tie. Now they have to play another full 21 heads, and if they tie again it has been suggested one of the skips might bo shot so as to get it finished.
