REMARKABLE OPERATION

PERFORMED ON MAN'S EYE

LONDON, April 3. An Australian, whose name has not been disclosed, underwent a remarkable operation at Moorfields Eye Hftspital. Mr. Thomas, a young Welsh surgeon, grafted a membrane from a man who lost an eye in the Mitcham explosion upon the Australian's sightless ovo. The hospital explained that several months must elapse before any benefit is visible. It refuses to make a more detailed announcement. Mr. Thomas recently grafted the cornea from a boy, whose eye was so badly injured it had to be removed, upon a baby born blind. The baby can now distinguish light and shade.
