WEDDING

/ STEVENSON—WINTER

Holy. Trinity Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding this morning) when Evelyn Marian, youngest daughter ol Mrs U. J. Winter, and the late Colonel Winter, of Gisborne, was married to William Frederick, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Stevenson, of Wanganui. The marriage service was conducted by Canon A. F. Hall, and suitable wedding music was rendered by Mr. W. Kohn. . The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, with lovely autumn flowers and foliage, making a charming setting for the brido and her attendants in then* picturesque frocks. , The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr. Grevis G. Winter, looked charming in her graceful wedding gown of ivory satin. The frock was modelled ou lons slender lines, the bodice being tight-fitting, finishing with a cowl collar caught with a diamante clasp, tno sleeves were tucked and in puff style on the upper arm, and tight-fittmg below the elbow, terminating in a point over each hand; the skirt was long and flared, and the waistline encircled witti a stitched belt fastened with a diamante buckle. A long ivory satin train lined with palest pink satin was attached to the shoulders in cowl fashion, ornamented at the foot with a lovers knot, and liung in graceful folds over the back of the frock. A dainty bridal veil o white silk tulle was attached, to the bride’s head with a trail and posies of orange blossom, and was worn over her face. White satin shoes and silk hose were worn, and a beautiful shower bouquet of pink and white flowers was carried by the bride, completing her pretty toilette. The bridesmaids. Misses Joan Lrawford, chief, and Joan Hill, were dressed alike in pretty frocks and coatees ol hei"e lace, relieved with tasteful touches of green. Each frock was cut on long graceful lines, a green clasp ornamenting one shoulder, and it green, velvet sash defining the natural waistline. Each bridesmaid wore a becoming hat of beige felt-, trimmed with green velvet to tone; green velvet shoes; and beige silk hose; and carried a lovely bouquet of autumn tfnted flowers and foliage. Little Miss Pixie Winter, iriece of the bride, was a dainty flower-girl, wearing a very pretty frock of rose-colored velvet fashioned on long lines in Kate Greenaway style; a charming bonnet of beige lace; and carrying an ornamental basket of mixed flowers to tone.

The duties of best *man were ably carried ottlTby ME'J. Bain, and those «,f groomsman by Mr. Til. B. Lazeron. Following the ceremony at tho church a very enjoyable reception was held in the Ritz tea-rooms. The room and tables were artistically decorated with pink and white pom-pom dahlias, and over the handsome wedding-cake hung a pretty floral wedding-hell. The guests were received by Mrs. G. J. Winter, mother of the hride, wearing a handsome frock of black panne velvet relieved with touches of white, squirrel furs, and a black and white velour Hat-, and holding an"' artistic bouquet of amethyst dahlias. Mrs. L. Balfour, sister of the bride, was weaving a smartly tailored suit, tho sldrt in black and the coat rn black and white checked tweed- a black velour hat relieved with touches off white; and was carrying a pretty bouqaet od brightlined dahlias. A becoming frock of grey corded tweed trimmed with torches of white ermine velvet was worn by Mrs. W. Oakden, sister of the bride, with a smart saxe blue felt hat. She carried a dainty bouquet of pink pom-pom dahlias.

Mrs. J. Cranswick, sister of the bride, was smart in it tailored suit in fawn and nigger brown tonings, a brown velour hat, to mutch, and carried a Victoriaji posy of bright orange and brown marigolds. Mrs. A. W. Horo«u, aunt of the bride, wore a becoming frock of black and white printed create de chine trimmed with white facings; and a black hat. A smartly tailor ed suit of navy blue was worn by M,ys. Grevis Winter, sister-in-law of the bride, with red velour hat and a. bright scarf to tone. Later in the morning the bride and bridegroom departed for Wanganui and Wellington by motor-car, the bride travelling in a smartly-modelled ensemble of .‘exxe blue and fawn crepe de chine, a bl.ue velour hat to tone, and a smart tailored coat of saxe-blue diagonal tweedi, finished with a squirrel scarf collar..

Many beautiful and useful presents were recei.ved by the bride and bridegroom, these being on view at the home of the bride’s mother.
