The annual general meeting of the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association will be held on Saturday April 29. at 11 a.m. in the secretary’s office, Childers road. The Poverty Ray Horticultural Society is reminding exhibitors at the chrysanthemum show, through the advertis-ng columns of this paper that entries close at Mr. Alex. Thomson’s shop, Peel street, at noon on Thursday, April 20. The Peter Pan Dance Club announces that their usual weekly dance , s'-ssion will be held to-night in the Carlton Hall. Spot waltz prizes will be awarded, and Wreford Wade’s orchestra will provide the music. Visii tors are cordially invited. The Gisborne Repertory Soci '. y is now well on its way to format >n, a large membership already being .issur- , ed. The first reading is to take place I on April 24. and further readings [hereafter ‘probably fortnightly. The society’s activities should fill a long felt want in Gisborne by giving something of an entertaining and educational value for the winter evenings. I All lovers of dancing will note with j pleasure that next Thursday night a dance organised by Mr. P. Keilia will be held in the Poho-o-Rawiri pa, Haiti. The dance promises to be one of the most successful held this year. Two popular orchestras have been engaged, Keiha’s orchestra of 12 instruments, and the Krazy Kat of five. Action songs by the Takitimu social 1 troupe and the Awapuni troupe will lend their assistance to the further entertainment of the (lancers. The function is in support of the forthcomI ing Maori hockey tournament.
