EMDEN’S NAMEPLATE CEREMONY IN BERLIN * (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Fob. 2. noon.) .BERLIN, Fob. 27. In the historic palace in the Wilhelmstrasse, formerly the residence of Bismark and other Chancellors, which Marshal yon Hindcnburg is. now, temporarily occupying, Mr. Bruce returned to Germany a relic of the Australian navy’s first notable achievement, the Ennlen’s-nameplate. Mr. Bruce paid a tribute to ,the courage and chivalry of the Emden’s captain and crew. Their deeds 1 iftukt have stirred the hearts of Germany, as they had wrung respect from-their enemies.
Replying, Marshal von Hindenburg said the whole of Germany was grateful to Australia. Germany wished to strengthen the ties of friendship .with Australia, and that day’s event doubtless would contribute towards that end.
