RUATORIA NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) The Ruatoria Rodeo Club held a meeting on Saturday evening to discuss arrangements for the meeting to be held in April next. Among those present were Messrs. J. AI. Reedy, J. Ward, T. Ivaiwai, 0. Woodford, E. Simmonson, C. Farr, W. Ikedy, T. H. Reedy, W. Hogan, B. Reedy, D. Alullooly, T. Beach, A. Hunter, 11. Kershaw, and D. Doherty. The programme was kept intact with tho exception'of some prizes being increased and entries in others being decreased. Some other items were discussed and the members each allotted their work for tho day.—There is no doubt that success is assured, as every member present entered into the spirit of the meeting, and their keen suggestions point to the fact that all are wholeheartedly preparing for their work. The balance sheet and minutes of last pieeting were, read and confirmed, Mr. J. Al. Reedy being in the chair.—The balunce sheet showed h balance of £47 Is, which is a good omen for the noxt meet, as tho expenses will be considerably lighter. An interesting sight was witnessed on Thursday, when a flock of eight Canadian geese were seen sporting over the Waiupu River. It is surmised that these geese are the offspring of four which were originally in the possession of Air. A. B. Williams, and have been missing for some time from their usual grounds. It was previously thought that the original four had not increased.
Buyers of draught horses, and, in fact, working horses of any description, aie busy on the Coast, the purchases being for Waikato sales. Fair prices are being offered, and a large mob will be leaving shortly for Taneatua, where they will be railed to tho suleyards.
