WOOL PRICES

LOCAL MILLS FORCE BIDDING Time and again it has been demonstrated that our local woollen mills are an important factor in maintaining values at the New Zealand wool sales, when the lots offered are suitable for their requirements, and history repeated itself at tlie December sales held in Dunedin. Messrs. Stionach, Morris and Cojilpany, Limited, submitted eight bales of super merino on behalf of a wellknown grower, Mr. R. Jopp, Moutere, Central Otago, and, after keen competition, it was secured by the Mosgiel Woollen Mills at 12Jd per lb—the highest price paid so far this season. There is an old sayingi that “you cannot make a silk parse out of a sow’s ear," and. in the light oi the above incident, it is easy to understand why Mosgiel woollen goods attain such a high standard of quality.
