WAIPAWA TOURNAMENT During the second day’s play in the Waipawa tennis tournament, 'N. R. ATaekay. in the second round of the Men’s Championship Singles, beat A. Ritchie, 6—3, l-Rj, 6—2, but in the Men’s Championship Doubles Mackay and Latham were defeated by Lowry and Court, 3—6, 4—6. On Wednesday Mackay was defeated bv Merchant, 6—4, 2—6, 3—6, in the third round of the Men’s Championship Singles.
MATCHES IN CHRISTCHURCH Exhibition matches arranged by the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association were held at Wilding Park, Christchurch, on Wednesday, in the presence of nearly 3000 persons. Results:—• C. E. Malfroy beat 11. A. Barnett, 46, 6—3. 6—2; G. Aligns beat E. I). Andrews, 7—5, 6—B. 6—l; Malfroy and Andrews heat Angas and Barnett, I—6, 6—l, 6—2, 6—3.
