MAJESTIC THEATRE “The Expert,” the screen adaptation of that whimsical story “Old Man Minick,” by Edna Berber, author of “So Big,” which is scheduled for screening at this theatre next month, will have its final presentation at the Majestic, Theatre, this (‘veiling. Chic .Sale is featured. “Man to Man,” featuring Phillips Holmes, is the second attraction. A definite triumph for British acting is noticeable in the new mystery thriller, “Murder on the Second Floor,” to be presented to Majestic Theatre patrons on Thursday and Friday. The picture provides entertainment of the popular type, and clever co-operation between director and players is mainly responsible for the success of the film. The story, which concerns thb adventures of a young playwright (John Longden) at a boardinghouse established in Bloomsbury, London, is well constructed, aid right from the start, when the young boarder begins to strip the veil of “everyday worldliness” from lvis fidlow occupants, until the dramatic climax wherein many strange tilings are brought to light, the audience is hold in tense anticipation and suspense. Two people are found dead and the police are faced with the problem of proving a double murder or murder and suicide. Amy Vencss, who will bo remembered ns true' mother-in-law in “My Wife’s Family,” takes the part of Mrs. Armitage, the proprietress, while Ben Field, shortly to be seen in Grncie Fields’ “Sally in our Alley” at this theatre, plays the part of a henpecked husband whose mask of blissful simplicity is found to be only a “blind” to his real nature. Other players who contribute with marked success to the histrionic attractiveness of the film are Fat Paterson, a popular English radio, state and screen artist; petite .Sydney Fairbrother, Frank Bellamy, Florence Desmond, Oswald Skilbeck and John Turnbull. A strong supporting programme will be screened.
