A garden party organised by the Gisborne lona old girls will be held oil •Saturday afternoon next at Mrs. T. Holden’s, Rimuroa. Tennis may be played. There will be stalls and other attractions. An invitation is extended to all to attend.*
Mr T. A. Bowden, who for the last JO years has been on the survey staff of the Uganda Government (East Africa), arrived in New Zealand recently, Mr Bowden has retired from the service and intends to reside in Hawke’s Bay.
Mrs. Mary Ann Adamson, of Hastings, celebrated her 99th birthday on Saturday. It is now 97 years since Mrs. Adamson came with her brother and parents from Tasmania to settle in New Zealand. Despite her great age, she is still able to take her daily walks.

V Mr. John Tliodey, cider son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. Thodey, Patutahi, leaves for London by the liner Rangitata next Friday to continue his studies of the teppsichofean art under English masters, writes the Herald correspondent at Patutahi. Mr. Thodey lias already won considerable distinction in New Zealand dancing circles.. having numerous trophies to his credit; he was runner-up for the New Zealand championship in •1929. Having been a keen member of 'thp local tennis club, he will be accorded a public send-off in the Patutahi .’Hall by the local enthusiasts this oven- '»>£. ‘
