(Herald Correspondent.)
The Waiapu County Council is now acting on the suggestion made by Sir Apirana Ngata at the last meeting of tho Dairy Company. The idea was that dairy farmers should allow: the secretary of the company to deduct a small amount each month from the respective cream cheques of the suppliers so as to have sufficient to pay the rates. The county engineer is visiting _ the dairy farmers with a view to obtaining orders on their cream cheques, and thus ensuring payment of rates. The continued dry weather is retarding the growth of the pastures and crops, and it is hoped that rain will soon, come so as to benefit the new pastures and lucerne stands put down recently by dairy farmers.
