“ADVERTISE THEM ALSO” LONDON, Sept. 7. /Sir Charles Higlmin, speaking at the National,Display Convention at Guildford, said that ‘just as the press was the cheapest way to explain the merits of goods to the millions, so was the shop window the most effective place to let the public see the goods themselves. Small shopkeepers wore learning to copy the beautifully arranged window displays of Harrod’s, Austin Reed’s and Selfridge’s and the otherbig stores. “ The shopkeeper is also learning to advertise his windows,” he said. “He is using the newspapers as he never did years ago. He knows now that it is not enough to show the goods; he must tell people where his shop is and to come and see them —he is turning ‘hope’ into ‘eertainty’ in his selling.•The dealer who sells branded advertised goods, who shows them properly in his windows, who nd\eitisos in his local papers and is courteous to his customers is getting the business.
