AMERICAN WOMEN FINED IN PARIS PARIS, Feb. 12. . In pursuance of the campaign against “fashion piracy” Mrs Caroline Davis and Mrs Ida Helen Oliver, both American -citizens, have been prosecuted. Mrs Oliver was fined 500 f (£4 at par) amt ordered to pay damages of 113,500 f (£008), while Mrs Davis was lined 2000 f (£ldi) and ordered to pay £7OO damages. In the course of the bearing it wan stated that both women made a substantial income by sending sketches and patterns of new models to New York. There they could be copied wholesale as soon as the originals were shown in Paris.
