A MEAGRE RAINFALL
AN INCH IN TWO MONTHS LOWEST DISTRICT RECORD The November rainfall totalled only HO points, and /or the two months of October and November the total was 90 points. This constitutes the lowest rainfall on record in Gisborne for these two months, the previous lowest being 1,71 in. in 11*27. With a continuance of the dry conditions, it is still possible for the year to be the driest since records were kept from IN7X. To date, the rainfall for the year is only 25.11 in. The record so far is held by the year 11*111, when the total rainfall was only 25.40 in.. while IS7S was nearly as bad with only L’tl.oilin. Last month alone ranks among the driest Novembers, the one with the least rainfall being in 1X79, when only -17 points fell; in 190 S and 1920 there were (14 points, and in 1927 (la points. Haiti fell on only five days last month, the maximum fall being •IS points on November 111. The following are the rainfall figures month by month for the year, with those of the two previous years given for comparison:

The rainfall at To Karnka for the past 11 months was well below the average, only 29. Gin having been recorded as compared with an average of 42in for the 12 months. Only l.lMin of rain was registered last month, the heaviest fall being .Sin on November 12.
