BRIDGE COLLAPSES
LORRY DRIVER KILLED (Per Press Association.) NELSON, this day. William Henry Wise, a motor-lorry driver, of Motueka, was killed at Pokororo yesterday afternoon. The deceased was crossing the Pokoi'oro swing bridge over the Motueka River when the cross beams of the bridge broke away and the lorry fell bodily 20ft. into 4ft. of water. The deceased was pinned against the seat. Respiratory measures failed, and it was found that the deceased had sustained severe head injuries.
