OPERA HOUSE. To-night sees the opening performance of the four nights' season of tlie sparkling- Oarilston anil Baxter musical farce “High Jinks." Those who enjoy a merry evening, with, bright music and witty dialogue, will find a. fare very much lo their liking, interspersed throughout “High Jinks” are many charming ballets, prettily frockod, and spectacularly lighted. It can be truly said that from curtain to curtain there is not a. dull moment in “.High .link's." Booking lias been good, indicating that the public appreciate the effort, of the local performers in staging this entertaining farce, and all lovers of the theatre should certainly make a point of attending, REGENT THEATRE The English comedy, “Tons of Money,” featuring Ralph Lynn, Yvonne Annual and Mary Brough, will bo presented to-night. Through his many .successes in farcial comedy, and notably in “Rookery Nook,” Ralph Lynn, all hough entirely differ cut in method ami manners, has become the Oharles Chaplin of the British screen, and that, too, without deserting Ids “daily bread” of the Aldwyoh Theatre, London. In “Tons of Money,” Aubrey Allington, up to bis eyes in debt, ■inherits 150,000 dollars from a dead cousin in Mexico. In the case of AubreyV death, the fortune is to go lo George 'Maitlaiul, and Aubrey ’s clever wife Louise suggests tlmt lie should die ami come to life as Maitland, and so defeat the creditors. Se he blows himself up in his own explosive factory, and vclurns heme as the supposedly dead George Maitland, there to meet with George’s real wife, to whom lie lias to show conjugal affection even in 1 lie presence of the outraged Louise. Kprnles a shrewd butler, has also read the terms of the will, and arranges for his brother licurv to impersonate Maitland. Aubrey, desperate at having to play the husband to 'Maitland’s wife, decided to “die” again, and drowns himself in the river, and then returns disguised as the Rev. Ebeitezer Jones, to find Henry Sprules masquerading as Maitland. To add to the complication the real Maitland turns up, and Aubrey is forced to come to life again, only to hear that the tons of money willed to him lias been confiscated by an unscrupulous Mexican Government. There nre excellent slipper ts. MAJESTIC THEATRE. To-night will see tho last screening of "Laughing? Sinners.” As tho worldly Salvation Army girl who lovsakes her tambourine for the arms of her travelling salesman lover, Joan Crawford scales dramatic heights in “Laughing Sinners. Neil Hamilton plays the part of the old love who comes back into the. repentant girl’s life, and Clark Gable is the simple Salvation Army boy, worshipping her with an honest faith and devotion. Good supports complete this programme. Commencing to-morrow, the Majestic Theatre will present a well-balanced double-star hill. The first- feature is a romance of a Romeo and Juliette of I'rirk nvenue, with plenty of laughs and action. This cure for the blues is entitled “The Hot Heiress,” starring Bon Lyon and Qua Munsen. The second feature is a gangland film, “Widow from Chicago,” in which Alice White, with Neil Hamilton and Edward G. Robinson in support, appears as a dangerous widow among the racketeers of the underworld.
