The Statutes Revision Committee reported on the Rural Intermediate Credit Amendment Bill, with amendments. Replying to the Hon. G. Witty, who asked if legislation would be introduced amending the Companies Act in the direction of making it unlawful for the director of any registered company to borrow or obtain advances or loans from jvnv company of which he was a director, the Hon. R. Masters skid the matter Wbnld be referred to the special committee which Was at present considering various amendments to the Companies Act. The Taupiri Drainage and River District ‘Amendment Bill as put through all stages anil passed. In moving the second reading of the Companies Empowering Amendment Bill, Sir James Parr said the bill aimed to give all companies power to issue labor Shares. The bill was read a StsCond Time, put'through ‘the remaining stages and passed.

THE DIVISION LIST Mr. Anscll said it Was clear that Mr. Hamilton had taken the advice of his department instead of going into the matter himself. His arguments were on all fours With the arguments placed before the committee by the department. The amendment was defeated by <‘sß votes to 2§.
