Mosley, S.M., at Christchurch, in convicting Maude Beatrice Lochore, alias Peggy Hall, 37, and Nellie Smith, 21, both domestics, on charges of shoplifting. Smith was sentenced to undergo Borstal treatment at Point Halswell for a year, and Lochore was given three months’ hard labor. The police, said that accused came from Wellington and had a had reputation. In all, there were eight charges, not of the ordinary shoplifting type, and concerning mostly food.
