THE EMBARGO
(To the Editor of the Herald). Sir, —I am pleased to read, like many others, that Mr. J, C. Field Inis declared his principles and condemned the leaders, arid I emphatically say wliat earthly use is a Fanners’ Union if the leaders on their own volition act without so much as getting an opinion from the rank and file, the little cockatoo and the full-fledged one. I for one, and others have asked me to protest, as in my humble opinion we are being sol'd body sou} and all by our leaders as Joseph was of old, and that goes to prove how history repeats itself, and what surprises nne is that the old history of tho Bible is not read in the schools, especially when I am repeatedly told that this is God’s own country, and in God’s own country the Bible in the schools is not read. What logic! No doubt the Bolshie elernent will inform me I am digressing. So this lifting of the. embargo must bo watched, and wo now know that Messrs. Forbes, D. Jones, W. Perry and Co. are with tjireo of our local men for the lifting of the embargo. 1 now ask are not the Farmers’ Union and public opinion strong enough to inform every M.P. who is in favor of the lifting of the ombargio that his services are no longer required, arid that at the coming election the country Will support meii' Who are for the non-lifting of the embargo for all time, ho blatter whether Reform, United, or Labor, and I am certain if Labor leaders sold their rank’and file, as we have been sold by our leaders, tlieir nairies would go on the black list.—Yours, etc., A'. KENT.
